After scripts have been modified. Cd to the file path for the script in /Step 1/ and run using ./CMDBSite.ps1. Allow the script to complete successfully.
Do the same for the script in /Step 2/. Once the scripts have finished running, you must Add the newly created site to the Navigation Menu.
-
Log into the SharePoint 2013 site by going to https://sharepoint.carneys.com from the CBTCSRV08 server. Click on Settings –> Site Settings –>
Under Look and Feel, click on Navigation
Under Managed Navigation Term Set, click on Term Store Management Tool
Term Store Management Tool will open in a separate Tab or Page. Once in the Term Store Management Tool, Expand CBTC SharePoint Portal Navigation, Expand Customers. Here you will see the Navigation Menu alphabetical structure A-C, D-F etc.
For example, If you created a customer for KCWA, you would need to right click G-K and select Create Term. Here you will create the company name as you want it to appear in the Navigation Menu under Customers from the CBTC Main site.
Note: You will need to repeat the same process for Customer Site Navigation.
After creating the Term, click on the Navigation tab –> Navigation Node Type –> Select Simple Link or Header and enter the following in the white area /customers/kcwa (NOTE: must match the URL path you stated in the scripts above) and click SAVE to save changes.
Close Term Store Management Tool and refresh CBTC Main site. You will see the newly added term to the Main Navigation menu under the Customers heading.
Now that the term has been added to the Main Navigation Menu. Click on the new site. Note: The site will take a couple of minutes to come online as the new site is being added to the SQL content database.
As a final few steps, once the site is accessible, Go to –> Site Settings –> Under Look and Feel click Navigation –> Under Global and Current Navigation select Structural Navigation –> Check Show subsites –> then click OK.
Still under Site Settings –> select Master Pages –> Under Site and System Master Page select Inherit site master page from parent site –> Check Reset all subsites to inherit this site master page setting. Expand Theme –> Check Inherit the theme from the parent of this site. Expand Alternate CSS URL –> Check Inherit Alternate CSS URL from parent of this site –> Click OK to save changes.
All changes and configuration are complete. Refresh the CBTC Main site and access your new site from the Main Navigation Menu under Customers. Great Job!
