Hello everyone! This blog will concentrate on providing you detailed instructions for adding embedded video to a content editor web part in SharePoint 2013. You must have site administrative privileges to perform these steps. Here we go…
-
Navigate to a customer Videos subsite you would like to embed the video. For example, https://sharepoint.carneys.com/customers/aero (or any customer site you’d like.)
-
Click “Edit” to edit page or click on the and select “Edit page”
When in the page editor, a tool ribbon will appear as follows:
-
Click on the “Insert” tab –> Web Part –> In Categories, scroll to Media and Content –> Select “Content Editor” –> Add
NOTE: When adding a web part to a site page, it is important to understand the page layout and where you would like the web part to appear on the page. The page layout dictates the location of a specific web part when adding the element to a site page in SharePoint. Therefore, select the location with your mouse prior to clicking on “Add”. All Video subsites have been created with a “One column with sidebar” layout.
In our example above, we will place the embedded video underneath the existing embedded Vimeo video on the customer Video subsite. The result will appear as follows:
Now that the Content Editor web part has been added to your site page,
-
Hover over the Content Editor web part and click on the down arrow as illustrated in the picture above –> select Edit Web Part
After clicking on the Edit Web Part, two things will happen… The content editor will appear
And a link will appear on the Content Editor web part “Click here to add new content”.
- Click on the link “Click here to add new content”.
- With the cursor blinking in the Content Editor web part –> select “Edit Source” from the tool ribbon above.
-
Copy and Paste the YouTube or Vimeo embed code in the HTML Source editor
- Click “OK”
- Click “Ok ” on the Content Editor editor.
-
Click “Save” to save the site page edits. And whala! Your embedded video will appear on the site page.
